Glass all pulled out and working on the spindles to get them mounted on the straight axle. Bushings/kingpins are junk so a kit is on order.

I put a T-10 in my car 47 years ago without cutting anything, no problems yet. lol......... Measure first!

Regarding the T10 in a car bell, the input bearing retainer needs to be turned down a little on the OD to fit in the bell opening and the input shaft needs to have approximately 3/8" cut off the nose of it. Some T10's have dual bolt pattern but if not you may have to drill 2 of the holes to match the bolt pattern.

Made a little progress on the "Canned Monster". Tires were mounted up on the wheels. I watched the poor guy at the tire shop try to mount them both up, was quite funny. As a reminder these tires are at least 40 years old and are for mock up only. The rubber is very hard and they were having a heck of a time trying to get them to work. Took three guys and a hammer if that gives you an idea. But, they're done now and hopefully will continue to hold air. We tossed them on the rear and now really see the offset of the wheels are no were near what they need to be. Since we are radiusing the wells it wont matter much.

Also starting pulling parts off the front of the car to get it ready for the new axle and other work to be done. Found something interesting. The car has a block off plate for the radio, but the car has a factory antenna that doesn't plug into anything. I found that amusing.

These tires will never see the track, only for build purposes but they may see a few burnouts in the neighborhood. I've been coating them with Amor All and they are looking nicer.

I'll try to grab a snap of the block off plates. How rare are those btw? I've only seen a few over the years mostly for radios but never for heaters too. Having them both blocked out sure makes the dash look clean.

In days gone by, we soaked my son's 1/4 Midget tires in WD-40, worked ok, took a few laps to get the bite back. I never tried it on larger tires. On a drag car there is nothing like new slicks, always went faster on a fresh set. You could probably sell the factory blockoffs to help buy the tires!

Looking over the Canned Monster tonight I noted that the car has a factory block off plates for the radio and the heater on the dash, and a block off on the firewall for the heater core. It was born to be a race car. Less stuff I have to pull off which is great.

Picked up a few parts yesterday. Was able to grab the spindles we will be using. Sending them out to WAC Customs this week to get fitted on the tube axle. The vintage race tires are for mock up only but they will help get the proportions adjusted for the wheel wells. They are very vintage McCreary tires and not to soft. Anyone know how to soften up old tires???

I'm not knowledgeable about differences between passenger car and truck y-block bellhousings, Lance. Regarding using a T-10 with a y-block passenger car bellhousing, like other Borg Warner transmissions that were used across vehicle makes, the bell housing bolt pattern can be an issue OR the transmission input shaft length.

IF the T-10 is from a ‘60s Ford application I don’t THINK that you’ll have a problem. That said, be sure to check the transmission input shaft length. I’ve seen numerous T-85s and T-10s for sale where a transmission case ‘ear’ has been broken off. The input shaft likely bottomed in the end of the crank and the installer didn’t realize and just kept tightening the transmission case to bellhousing bolts.
