Alan, that garage wear was there for a purpose BigGrin. Last time we did the same, exhaust pulses made a huge dust cloud out of a dry sand and that was a no no with open turbos w00t.

So the idle advance is about 10 degree, max at 3000 rpm is 40 if running without boost. When hitting that 1.5 bar/22 psi, advance is 20 at 3000 rpm. Those numbers are not a dyno proven, so those are results of hunch of team's brainstorm aided by more badass turboracers.Doze So if anybody got more ideas to this soup of speculations, feel free to leave a comment.

Great job guys. Congratulations!!One possible issue?
Many years ago I worked at Garrett AiResearch. I assume you have check valves in the turbo oil feed lines at the lowest point to avoid oil drain back? This was an issue on the first Offy turbo engines built for Indy in the 1960's; we had bearing failures that occurred on restarts with hot oil. This engine too had turbos mounted high up. Some engine builders also use an accumulator or auxiliary electric oil pump as well.

Good info WLJ. Thanks. In fact we have no check valves and that have not even came to my mind w00t. But, this is learning all the time...

Thumbs up for the weekend. Tomorrow is first qualification day, saturday is another qualification day and then hopefully we will be in sundays eliminations too. I'm quite positive that we will go faster than 8.723 this weekend Whistling. But, there is always a chance for rain to ruin our weekend...

We lost today on the second elimination round as Jyrki broke his 9.01 dial in by 8.885 / 226 km/h run with 1.217 60 ft time. We struggeled all weekend with fuel and ignition maps and last run on saturday and first run on sunday went badly due poor and slippery track conditions after someone oiled the track. Here is the list of runs:

R/T -.003 60 ft 1.487 ET 9.467 speed 227.62 km/h

-.018 1.245 9.126 224.94

.039 1.337 9.616 216.43

.046 1.258 9.226 224.03

-.024 1.309 9.037 232.15

.039 1.353 9.281 223.65

.090 1.350 9.832 213.25 one boost pressure hose got loose and sliding on slippery track. Won this as other guy red lighted.

.406 1.217 8.885 226.17 lost due break out

So, not the weekend we wanted, but the car is still in one piece and it's good to go to next race on next thursday to sunday Smile. We just have to get more ignition advance with 1.5 bar of boost to gain some more trap speed...
