I was born Dec1 1941. Only took me 6 days to start WWII. My first Y was a 56 customline 4 door, traded it on a 61 starliner 390/375. I then bought a 57 T bird (in 64) std/od. Needed body work so I sold it many years later. When I retired I got annother Bird and here I am. 56 Fords are a favorite of mine, very good cars.

I forgot to mention what my wife always says and its something I try to live by. " You're only young once but you can act immature forever".

My birthday is August 1949, my first experience with a Y-block was my Dad’s Late model stock racecar, in 1957.(him on far right) It was a 55 Ford sponsored by a local Ford dealer. In 1960 I got my first ride in a 1955 thunderbird my Dad back together that had been stolen and striped of the engine and trans. My first car was a 1957 ford F-100, but we pulled the 6 cylinder in favor of a 389 Pontiac with tri-power. In 1969 I bought my first Y-block, the 57 bird I still own today.
Dad passed away a few years ago, sure miss him

It is good to see some young blood here. I am 67. First Y Block was a '58 Custom 292 in 1963. Traded it for the '57 T-Bird that I still have. Had several others over the years. Never concieved a child in the Bird but can vouch for the fact that it can be done if both partys are willing.

I'm 49 and got my first Y a couple of months back. I've put over 4,000 miles on it so far. A lot of fun! I really want to do my first-ever engine tear-down and rebuild on a Y-block; I'm still figuring out how to get a good engine to work with, and how to fit this project in the garage. My first car was a 74 Mercury Bobcat. Still in high school, I got a 70 Torino Cobra with 429 SCJ, 4 speed toploader and 4.30 gears. That car was wicked fast. It sat in my parents' garage for nearly 30 years, and recently went to my cousin. Lots of cars later, I now have 57 Country Sedan, 70 Bronco, 74 MGB and 05 JCW Mini.

I am 70, my first y block was a 55 mainline in 1959. Swapped it on a 55 Montclair. Had a 55 f600 for several years, then went without a y block for forty years when I got my 55 f100 in 2005. Still grieve over that Montclair though.

I was 4 years and 2 months when the 55 'Bird was born in May. The Thunderbird is my first Y, the rest of my Fords were small blocks or sixes. First car i bought was a 64 Falcon that the PO had put a Hipo 289 in, then got drafted. Had a lot of fun with that car.
