Hi Guys. What is everyone using for oil. I've been using Shell Rotella 15-40. Getting tough to get now. Coming thru w/synthetic blend. Is this OK. Are there any other brands you guys use. Thank you.

Wow...that 540ratblog is a veritable rabbit hole. Helped me change my mind about the gear oil I planned on running, though.

Lucas 10-30 Hot Rod oil. Stays close to the 20-20w Henry recommended on the glove box sticker. Nice flow from the rocker arm shafts when warm.

Here’s what I use, It’s a high zinc formula for flat tappet engines. Valvoline 20W-50 VR1 Racing Oil part #vv211 or NAPA VAL822347
It comes in a six pack.

Ted has always said diesel oil is not the best for a gas (especially a Y) engine. I go with what he uses - Valvoline conventional 10-40.
As stated in the article, ZDDP is not the best measure of a good oil. And to much can cause increased wear
