Oh, the results Smile. Times were not what we expected, but there is several reasons to that. yfreak57 drove 16.658 / 129.96 km/h as a best with Hollow Machine and my best was 16.919 with 114.91 km/h. LordMrFord did not attend due hangover BigGrin.

The engine works great and has a lot's of power with only 0.5 bar boost pressure. Runs almost perfectly at all rpm situations and driving conditions. Well, of course it can do much better with wide band lambda and some more tuning. But when it starts to really pull, the rear tires loose the grip immediately. At my best run at quarter I lost the grip at half way and I had to lift and I drove all the way at first gear. The transmission has seen it's best days and won't take the second gear very often. Sometimes it does, but most of the time it don't. It slips badly. Maybe the increased power does that? Well, it slipped last year too, so we have to change it to something more race oriented version.

At Jyrkis best run it changed the second gear just before the finishing line and that explains that 15 km/h difference at speed traps.

The track was also a bit slippery and our narrow tyres didn't get the best possible grip. And the 60 ft times were at 2.585 to 2.910 range due the two speed tranny and the 2.75 gears.

On race circuit we did some extremely dangerous curves. LordMrFord spun twice, me once and yfreak 57 spun also atleast once. I'll put some videos about those to youtube later BigGrin.

It's quite a feeling when your helmet starts to lift your head upwards at about 120 km/h speed and when the tranny suddenly takes the second gear when the boost pressures are at the peak level. And then the rearend starts to pull to the left or right when tires loose the grip w00t.

Drive safe!

There have been a few Y-Blockers working on twin-turbo's, but you are already there.

-And some of us have been thinking about it.

I would love to read about the technical aspects of running a turbo on a Y.

Bob, safety issues are well in our minds but style goes first and a roll gage over our rat rod is out of question. But I think we have reached the limit with that frame and my head (Hollow one) is brainstorming with ideas about Nostalgia FED dragster for the next summer with decent C4 behind that engine. We can always put the old reliable 272 to our Hollow Machine and use it as a tow Machine for the dragster Smile.

And about that story for the Y-block magazine... It could well be done. How much of a story do you want? And how many pictures is possible? We do have a lot's of material for that and previous setups. Too bad, we don't have a clue how these setups work with any full scale car, but basics are the same. And we are no experts in any manner, we just like and dare to try different things w00t.

And there is me driving my fastest lap around the circuit. Despite that spin, I was three seconds faster than yfreak57 with his Country Sedan BigGrin

Hear when the revs go up? That is the point where the tranny slips during first to second shift Angry.

What rear end are you running? You need to get a posi or weld up the spider gears. Also try to find some of the sticky Goodyear Eagles about 6-8" wide. The locked up rear end will make a big difference right away. You could make an old fashioned looking single loop rollbar that just poke up above the driver head. Still look like a rat rod (if thats what you like) Chuck in NH (sure sounds good though!) BigGrin

Y's guys rule!
Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

That dragster that’s for sale is a bit far from me to check out but there are some other Y-Blockers in that same general neighborhood.  Keep in mind that when putting a powerglide behind the Y, it will need to be cocked sideways about 5° to give some room for the upper two transmission mounting bolts.  I re-clock my transmissions 5° clockwise (looking from the rear) to raise the transmission shift lever up and out of harms way.  The Y and the scrub share almost identical top bolt hole locations but they are off just enough to require reclocking of the transmission.  I’m assuming at this point you’re comtemplating building your own adapter.
