As I understand it the ET starts when you trip a beam that is something like 21 inches in front of the stage light. If you set there for three seconds it does not affect the ET because the ET does not start when the light is green but when you cross the beam. The reaction time only comes into play if you are racing against another car. When staged you are not where the 1/4 is starting from or timed from.

If you are half a second late coming out of the hole, you will be half a second late going through the traps.

Hoosier Hurricane (6/19/2014)
Seppo:
I'm not sure if reaction times should be considered for your list, because most very low reactions are flukes, not typical times. In my case, my best reaction at Columbus was .001, but I have had two .000 green lights in recent years. I assure you, all 3 are flukes. At one meet at Bunker Hill Dragstrip in Indiana, after a round win a friend came running up the staging lanes shouting, you had a .500 light (different timers, .500 is perfect). I replied, that's just an average light for me. He asked, how so? I said half of them are .600 and half are .400. John always seems to get the .001 lights against me.

Hollow Head (6/19/2014) Also, like last year when Jyrki drove 8.885 he said it was s...it run, thus it was only 0.162 sec slower than our best! Damn team!
