Mike; In addition to what other's have said, you can also get a 57 and later Y-Block distributor and install a Pertronix electronic ignition. I did that upgrade 6 years ago for my 56 Customline and haven't had any issues. If you want to spend a bit more dollars, you can get the MSD 8383 Pro Billet distributor. For my most recent engine build I went with that and I must say it was a very easy set-up. Even re-curving the distributor by changing the springs and bushings was pretty straight forward and MSD provides good instructions. Good Luck! Rono

Both Blue Thunder and John Mummert make aluminum single four barrel intakes for the Y. MSD makes an electronic distributor for the Y engines.

Ive started the bodywork restoration on my 56 fairlane 2 dr ht.the engine and 3 spd tranny have been rebuilt but im looking to switch from the 2 bbl teapot carb and loadamatic dizzy,Who makes a aftermarket 4bbl aluminimun intake and an electronic dizzy that would work,i wanna ditch the point,condensor setup,thanks Mike
