No Shotcuts, If using the 361 Tach drive distributor housing you would need the Y block shaft and gear since it is longer than the FE, the housing is the same. there are a couple other nuances that may come in to play also like the end of the distributor is a larger diameter on the 361-391 so when they go with a regular distributor in a 361 block they normally bush down there, so to use it in a Y the end may have to be turned down. You would also need the distributor shaft from a Y with the teeth for the tach drive so finding one of those may be just as hard as finding a complete distributor. but then again many people damaged housings removing them or rolling blocks around and there may be more shafts out there than housings.

Hi Bill,
It sounds like you're back at it already! GREAT!
Regarding the 361 distributor, does the distributor gear have 13 or 14 teeth? Also, does it have a neoprene seal where it seats in the block?
Sounds like you may have a few parts that I'm looking for. I forget where you are geographically. -Maine? Interested because of shipping factor.

I just picked up a motor which was out of a T bird and was supposed to be a 312 but ended up a 292 (B9AE) block. However, it had a tach drive distributor (55-56 style) a set of steady rest, Bird dual exhaust manifolds, front pulley etc which I will not need since I do not own a bird. Reasonable offers accepted on parts. On another note, I just took apart a 1964, 361 Truck motor and the distributor housing on that also had provision for tack drive which with correct internals would probably work for a 57 later setup, anybody ever try this?
