Hi Guys I haven't been watching closely and may have missed comments so if the subject has been previously discussed please direct me to that thread. My question is: Has there been any interest shown in the new engine block Verne Schumann has/or is developing??? I would have thought with all of the HP hungry Y blockers there would at least have been some talk. I know that to make this come to fruition he must have 25 commitments, if not... Just curious. I am signed up for a block but we really need new crankshafts. I am on the 3rd or 4th one on my build. All ended up cracked. Sourcing a crank with strokes varying from stock to 4 1/8 may be a problem.

I'm with Don on this one... Cranks are needed first. There are a bunch of 292's lying around which are easily made into 312's if one has a 312 crank. After I sold the one that I had 3 years ago, it took me almos as long to find another good one for my build... Cranks that are put to 292 main size with your option of stroke, or maybe just a stock 312 stroke crank with the 292 main size out of the box?

I agree with Don's comment re new cranks. Usable 312 crank assemblies are getting really hard to find. At least in part because idiots used up so many Mercs back in the 70s & 80s in Demolitian derbies. Even if new cranks were only supplied in standard sizing, they could be turned down to fit 292 blocks where needed, and offset ground for stroker kits. Core charges for cranks are now up to $450!

Paying big bucks for a block you may as well go the extra mile and get a billet moldex crank as Ted uses, still cheap money compared to what I hear some people have in their scrub motors.
