So, Jyrki (yfreak57) is now first ever certified Y-block drag racer here in Finland. He drove five license runs at 5th round of Finnish Championship series race at Motopark track. Runs were not extremely good, thus we had problems with trans brake in all runs. Overflow cans water hose got loose on one run and sprayed Jyrkis helmet and he had to lift. On one run, little amount of oil came up from dipstick tube and he lifted on that one too. Then he hassled badly one run after he had to wait over half an hour at the water pot because former driver oiled 660 ft of another track and they had to clean it. At the last run we raised boost pressure a little to 14 psi and due that or that earlier mentioned water problem and overheating, we blowed the head gasket and number one filled up with water. We found that out right when we tried to go to run number 6, but water was dripping from under exhaust manifold. Then we pulled the plug from #1 and thats it. Race was over, because we went there to race, not to wrench
. We had no spares along and you know, here in Finland it's little hard to find Y-block gaskets from another drivers
. But, we made a new Finnish Y-block Record by 11.818s and 187 km/h. Car really has potential to lot better times, but we are still learning... And, what is good also, we got the car certified to 7,50 and slower times! Here is some pics anyway.
