I had a lot of trouble with my head gaskets blowing as you had probably read on my post. I did post my heads and used ARP head studs. I threw the torque spec out the window and toqued them to 120 lb/ft and then grabbed my breaker bar and cranked them down some more. I was tired of blowing head gaskets and thought they will either hold or I will the strip the threads out of the block. I am running 10 lbs of boost and so far they are holding together just fine. I love the block girdle. I am waiting for my 235 lb/hr injectors to show up so I can really crank this thing on the dyno. Good luck can't wait to see that thing roar down the track.

Our new valve covers for season 2012. Now people have no reason to wonder what engine we are running.

Ted, I would also like to piggy back on these requests for a girdle. If we are going to step up the speed on these Y-Blocks (especially turbocharged), we need to do everything possible to hold them together for a WOT three mile ride.

Ted, do you happen to have any girdles to sell or is it possible to make more of those. You sure have the drawings and it might be even cheaper to buy from you than discover the wheel again and manufacture those here in Finland . Ted, i,d be interested in 1 if anything comes of seppo,s inquirey. regards bill.

Jep, we are planning very similar set up, exept that we are going to fab new main caps tall enough to touch that girdle and then just bolt all together.

Hollow Head (8/24/2011) .......Question about ARP studs: What stud would be long enough to reach up to oil pan attaching level from main bolt holes and even ½ to 1 inch above the oil pan level to bolt main girdle between the block and the oil pan?For the main support girdles, I’m using studs and hardware found in the Granger catalog. They are coarse threaded on both ends. On these, there’s enough thread to torque the main caps down without the girdle in place and then with the proper spacers, lay the girdle on top of those nuts and then another set of nuts to hold the girdle in place. Double nutted when the assembly is in place. When cutting out the girdle, if you’ll leave some material in the girdle on the engines right side, you’ll incorporate some windage control into the girdle. Here’s a picture.
