Lord Gaga (6/17/2011) Do you know if these will fit a '57-59 chassis? (non power brake)My understanding is that these headers will fit a ’55, ’56, and ’57 car chassis with a standard or automatic transmission. The '58/'59 cars were not mentioned in the conversation. I was also told that with a standard transmission, the column shift linkage in front of the firewall will not clear. I’ve already had these headers on the dyno mule and the left side header pulls in much more tightly at the bellhousing than some of the other headers I’ve had on the engine. That sure doesn’t hurt in regards to steering box or frame clearance issues.

I got some pictures today of the new headers for Y-Block cars. These are Tri-Y style and were built around a 1955 so should fit most applications. This set has 1-1/2" primaries but can be built with 1-5/8" . Secondary tube is 2". These headers will be sent to Ted for dyno testing. Do you know if these will fit a '57-59 chassis? (non power brake)

Paying jobs, whats that? everybody wants me to work for charity. Are you going to test the dyno mule with same combination that you did all the other test and make sure it is making the same power as a previous test?

Y block Billy (6/14/2011) Now to wait on Teds results, but isn't the dyno mule getting modified? Curious to see the comparison to stock duals. The dyno mule will be back in the same controlled format that was present when doing the other exhaust tests . The new ‘Tri-Y’ headers are here and have been ‘broken in’ while testing some other cylinder heads just to get a feel for what kind of collector extensions need to be on hand when the headers are run through their paces in a controlled test. The 312 dyno engine is currently doing cylinder head testing right now in between ‘paying’ jobs.

Great Job, I think I will be needing a set of these in the near future along with one of your intakes. Now to wait on Teds results, but isn't the dyno mule getting modified? curious to see the comparison to stock duals.

I spoke to Jerry yesterday and asked about the P/B booster interferrence. He is going to a car show this weekend to look at some 55-56 Fords and get an idea what kind of boosters are being used. The #8 tube might be lowered if that would provide more clearance. The only set of these headers are 1500 miles away so all I have is a picture to look at.

Thank's John, yeah kinda dumb question on my part. Thought you just might know off hand how close they are to the stock M/C then I could guestimate how close it would be to my booster (which is 9" in diameter but raised ~5" from stock position).

Final price is not clear at this point. The headers will come to me painted in high heat paint. Some of you will want them coated so I need to get a price for that too. As for clearance issues on modified cars, it is too soon to tell. Actually, you have more information than I do. You have the car to look at and the pictures of the headers. There are many types of brake boosters. I don't know if Jerry took power brakes into consideration. As far as tube diameter goes, I think that 1-5/8" primaries will be larger enough for most applications.

Thanks for setting me straight MC. I first went to Jerry Jardine in 1965 with a new GTO at his shop in Garden Grove. Headers never leaked and worked great. Later had a custom set made by his people for my 57 Ford. Wish I still had that car. I now have a 57 T Bird that I have had for 43 years. Starting to build my third engine. It will be a 338 using John's stroker kit. All I need is the heads from John (it has been a 13 months now) hint, hint.

Genuinerod, see the other thread, John mentions they are made by jerry Jardine. http://www.y-blocksforever.com/forums/Topic55785-4-4.aspxJohn, Sorry for all the questions but I am very interested in Your (Jardine's?) Headers. Do you know how close they come to the Master Cylinder (Not me, but the one on the car...). The reason I ask in I have a power brake booster on mine and it looks like there may be some interference.
