DryLakesRacer (3/4/2013) Nice roadster in the back room with the Duke Hallock windshield....They always look great on 28/29's...Keep up the good work....JDWe built that car to look like a old "DryLakesRacer". No wonder you like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are taking it to the Detroit Auto Rama Show this week, where the owner will be taking it home from there. Oh yea, ands its powered by a Y-Block,a real mild one.But the owner is having Ted do something about that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I normally don't go to Speed Week anymore only to World Finals so I did not get to see your car and engine. Your engine photos show large breathers on the left rocker cover so I'm going to make an assumption here that you did not run a vacuum pump on your engine. I use wet sumps on my GMC's and I could not believe the difference with the addition of one those pumps. I have a gauge now it reads between 7 and 9 inches and it gave me a few extra miles per hour for not much effort. I made my own from a GM smog pump and ran it for many years before going to a manufactured one. One additional thing that also added a higher speed was the addition of y-type merge headers. That was the biggest step for horsepower I ever made.
I believe you could get into the mid 190's or higher with those additions. Here's one more that might help now that it appears you will have some shiney paint. A friend of mine had qualifed his streamliner by 1/2 mile per hour and asked what he thought he should do for the return run. I told him to wax the car. He came back 3 over the record and got a "red hat"....when I want to go fast my cars are as slippery as I can make them......Good Luck J.D.
