Off topic but I watched a show on TV yesterday about Jessie James's attempt at a speed record at EL Mirage and I could not believe how much dust and dirt you guys have to deal with out there. I have been to the National Training Center in sothern CA and have been in some of those dust storms, but not the same as trying to drive a car at 200 mph in one. My hats off to you guys.

charliemccraney (8/1/2010) Try this. Jack the truck so the the axle hangs, unbolt the front or rear of the springs to let them hang even farther, if necessary. Install the headers. Let if down real fast. The axle will make it's own clearance. Fire it up and drive real fast, 125 - 130mph or so, over a good sized speed bump. That will provide any additional clearance required for the full compression of the suspension. That just might work! I think I'll give it a try. NOT!

Charlie, I think you are just trying to make Tim mad enough that he will tell you to take the headers and see if you can make them fit! Sneaky, sneaky!

Just might, I'm not going to through them away.Well, if you decide to throw them away, I'll take'em. Try this. I didn't have the truck where I was putting them together but thought I had it all figured out, they fit very well if the truck was taller or I just took the axle out they would work. Believe me there was a lot of thinking going on when I found my mistake, the best we came up with for time and budget was to use the old exhaust with different collectors (3"). It's a big disappointment and I feel pretty stupid but that's just one of lifes lessons learned.

charliemccraney (8/1/2010) I was wondering about that but I figured you had everything scoped out. What if you put them on upside down and stick them through the hood?Funny!

Tim, I had mine on and off at least twenty times during the build and they still don't fit just like I want them too but I'm still tweeking on them. Not a step for a stepper, I'm sure that you will get it worked out and good luck at the "flats".
