It is good to see some young blood here. I am 67. First Y Block was a '58 Custom 292 in 1963. Traded it for the '57 T-Bird that I still have. Had several others over the years. Never concieved a child in the Bird but can vouch for the fact that it can be done if both partys are willing.

I'm 60-teen most of the time. Some mornings I feel like 62 though.

My birthday is August 1949, my first experience with a Y-block was my Dad’s Late model stock racecar, in 1957.(him on far right) It was a 55 Ford sponsored by a local Ford dealer. In 1960 I got my first ride in a 1955 thunderbird my Dad back together that had been stolen and striped of the engine and trans. My first car was a 1957 ford F-100, but we pulled the 6 cylinder in favor of a 389 Pontiac with tri-power. In 1969 I bought my first Y-block, the 57 bird I still own today.

Dad passed away a few years ago, sure miss him

I forgot to mention what my wife always says and its something I try to live by. " You're only young once but you can act immature forever".

I was born Dec1 1941. Only took me 6 days to start WWII. My first Y was a 56 customline 4 door, traded it on a 61 starliner 390/375. I then bought a 57 T bird (in 64) std/od. Needed body work so I sold it many years later. When I retired I got annother Bird and here I am.

56 Fords are a favorite of mine, very good cars.

I'm only 39, but I've been saying that for a little over 25 years... Smile

My Dad just turned 67, but I recall that he started counting backwards when he turned 8o some 13 years ago. Smile

Hope this helps you to understand where some of us are coming from! Hehe

68 in May, 2012. First car was a 45 Dodge 1/2 Ton pickup followed by a 41 scrub 4 door sedan. Pitted at the Kansas City area dirt tracks on a modified with a Hudson 308 6 banger in it. FAST! Bought a 57 Ford Convertible in 1959 and never went back. During the military years I owned a 66 Fairlane GT convertible, a 1969 Fairlane Cobra (Super Cobra Jet 428) and a 1966 Mustang GT 350H. Bought my current 56 Vicky in EL Paso, Texas in 1986. Bought the 28 Chrysler roadster in 1990. Been playing with the two of them ever since. Chuck

Y's guys rule!
Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

What an antique threadBigGrin we dug up. I must be one of the most seasoned guys on here. I was 18 the year my '56 F350 was built. I bought my first Y block about 1959 and have owned and built a few over the years. Just got the 272 back in the F350, did the initial break in run up and all is well. I did a lot more to it than I had originally planned but darn it was fun. Looking forward to getting it back on the road.
