I'm 26...  Got my 57 ford about 4 years ago.  My grandpa paid me $300 (+ gas money) to haul it out of their garage, or it was going to the scrap yard.  To my knowledge the car has been in the family since new.  New battery, coil, plugs, and wires and it ran (not well, but I drove it all over anyway).

Still a work in progress, but runs great and I love it.  I've never been to a drag race, but have wanted to go to columbus since I found this site.  I'm hoping to get some track time at Union Grove in WI this summer as an ice breaker / motivation to get to the shootout this year!  I owe all my technical knowledge about my car to this site.  Thanks! - John

Okay I'll spill the beans, 46 and counting. First Y that I owned was in a 56 F600 car hauler/implement truck with a very very tired 272 that after a major tune up ran pretty good for me for about 3 years and was replaced by a free ( guy owed me some money) Ford rebuilt 390 longblock. Then I bought a 57 F500 that was an ex-fire truck that was in a lot better shape but never got the hauler part of it completed before selling it.

I didn't have anything for several years till I bought my first Unibody pickup in 2001 and been a Yblock owner ever since.

46 is peeking on March. Bought my first Y-Block in 62 unibody in summer 1988, sadly I had to sell it couple of years ago. But have still 61 unibody where is coming y-block and also I have the 56 Country Sedan and 61 F-600 and 55 F-620. And our Ford-Freak club of Finland owns 56 F-600 which is also in my yard. Lots of other vehicles also in my yard not all are american made except 52 Mercury, 1986 Ranger, 1997 Explorer and four 80´s LTD Country Squires, but all are Fords...

I am 53 years YOUNG this year . I still think I"m 23 ??  Lynne says I act like a kid ??( Most of the time ) My Daughter says I act like an OLD  fool ?? Sometimes at work ,I act like I care ???

I picked up Lynne ( Wife of  30 years )  on our first date in my brothers 1956 Customline. 272 ,3 on the tree . I was, at that point in time , the RICHEST man on the planet . Surely it couldn't any better than that ?? The birth  of our Daughter was the highlight of our  lives ( after our wedding ) Fast Forward ,the next 25 years of morgages, bills ,morgages ,bills ,etc, etc, bills, bills ,you get the picture .??

All of a sudden ,I can see light at the end of the tunnel???Now ,after all the years of our  hard work ,I have some money .Buy cars, build Y-Blocks ?? Sounds like a plan to me .?? Meet people ( and Canadians ) on the Internet ,fly to USA,attend Columbus ,have loads of fun ,buy more cars ,build more Y-Blocks ,fly to USA , have more fun ......

And they ALL lived happily EVER AFTER ...............................

I'll be 66 in August.  Dad bought a new 55 F100 that I cut my teeth on at age 12.  It looked just like Dennis Leeking's (hi, Dennis).  I put about a million miles on it in the driveway.

I've been driving em' since 1955, but I bought my first Y-Block 57 Ford pickup in 1961, haven't been without one since.

Racing rookie at 64.  Have a 10 year plan for a red hat.  You won't get rid of me any time soon.

I was born April '64, learned to drive a manual trans. in a '64 F-100 with a 292 four speed "granny" when I was 12, bought "my" first F-100 (1960 223 with three on the tree, it was only 20 years old for $500) on my sixteenth birthday on my way home from the DMV with my new ticket in hand. If you found gas for $.99 a gallon you were lucky and I made $5 an hour working on my Uncles ranch (minimum was $3.10)  I saw Shirley Muldowney race Don Garlits in a grudge match at Famoso in '83 and remember everyone Booooo-ing her.  Fastest times then were around 250mph @ 5sec.

Although I fell in love with the sound of Y's when they first came out, the first one that I drove was an extremely wild(for the day) 6 carb monster in a super mod in 1959.After that I owned several 56,57and 58 Ford cars.I and a friend of mine have 9 of them now.I still love the sound of these things!!!!!!

Oh,and I was born 12 years before the Y.
