I got my 317 in the engjne bay with motor mount bolts over the holes in the frame piece. But the passenger side needsvto go right a bit but that'll push the driver side bolt too far from the hole.
Are the motor mounts the same or are they side specific? It wont be too difficult to switch them out but its like 95 in the shop these days.
First pic is passenger side mount and 2nd on is driver side. Both taken from front of car. The rubber will look strange as i had to make them myself.

The 1954 LINC 317CI mounts are the same for either side (brackets - insulators).

Engine mounts shown on LS of ILL -

Did you contact https://www.lincolnoldparts.com/ to see if they have the 54 insulators? They show 52-53.

Do you have a good upper and lower insulator in case they can be rebuilt?

I made the upper rectangular rubber pieces, the lower conical shape ones are good. Both bolts need to go toward the center of the car so they both wont line up. That's why I was asking if they are the same. The pictures you posted are not the same rubber parts as mine. AI said they are side specific with different part numbefs, so I'm going to switch them just to see. Theres no reason they won't line up otherwise

Do you have photos of the take-out insulators? It may be what you took out are not assembly as replacements seem to be hard to find.

Who's Al and where is he sourcing his information?

I think what you took off are 1956/ mounts ...

Look @ this and give them a call - https://www.lincolnoldparts.com/mount-motor-1718.html

One more favor if you will. Is the engine out or suspended high enough to photo the cross-member and engine supports mounting plate?

I am on a steep learning curve here as I never got around a LINC as early as this one.

Wow. It sure does seem like this has the wrong mounts. It was secure when i took the engine out and it all lined up. I'm gonna switch them probably in the morning. No idea why its not lining up. Cross fingers.
Where did you get those pics, cuz my manual doesnt have any info about the mounts. The metal parts look to be the same, just the upper insulators are different. I will be contacting lincolnoldparts for the right insulators. Thanks for doing the researching and I'll try to get pics of the cross member and mounting plates.

Yeah, check with them for the final answer as I only have the 1952-54 LINC CHASSIS PARTS CAT and the 1956-59 LINC MPC, no 1955 cataloging.

The brackets (6028) are the same for all years (1952-1957) but the insulators (upper) changed in 1956 (new car platform design). This is where I am going. But the brackets (6028) should go back into the frame mounts if they came out (possibly bent or the later design upper insulators or fabricated cause the mis-match?).

I am thinking an original owner could not find the correct upper insulators and went with the later design.

Appreciate greatly the photos.

Switched the mounts. No difference. I don't believe the insulator shape will make a difference either. 6028 bolts soludly to the block and the bolts going down thru the holes are welded on straight. The rubber parts won't change where they end up. Still have to get them a inch narrower. Strange. Can't make the block narrower nor can i move the mount holes.
And i couldnt get any pics, engine too low and a super pita lifting it again. Dorry
