On my 56 Ford-312-----I recently installed a new Bendix from Concours, like in November. Have not used it alot-- It fell apart. The pin that goes in the end was actually on the floor under the car, I have not found the end plate washer yet. . Did I get a defective Bendix? Any suggestions on what might be causing this? Thanks.

Sounds defective. Is the spring broken?

Everything is intact except the end ring is gone. We attempted to build one from the two I have. We cut the fist one apart to get the end ring off It would be impossible to put this ring on-how did it come off. It had to break, why. Have not looked at all of the teeth, can see one side from the inspection plate. Those that I can see are good. I bought this from Concours Parts. Is there a better source--like themanufactuer? Thanks. for the reply. Harold

This is the reason that I always try to avoid buying new reproduction parts. An NOS, NORS or even a good used part is always better than a made-in China or Taiwan reproduction part.
