Every time I see one hooked up it is with a muffler (U clamp) around a signal round tube. On my 1955 Ford there are 2 tubes one is 1.5" and the other is .5" with the nob that rotates. I have made a picture of a cut away view. it is difficult to get a U clamp around both and not interfere with the rotation of the small pipe. Is my car column normal or not. Thanks Jerry

Do You have the original Bracket that the switch bolts to as shown in previous Post Picture? It has a small piece sticking out that locates the Bracket correctly on the bigger Pipe to support the end of shifter tube? Its a bit of a "B" to get it on position properly and held in place by the clamp.

No all I have is the 2 tubes running down to the floor and the smaller tube rotates as you shit the gears and at the bottom of the small tube is the kind of a triangle with the knob or pointer sticking up about an inch.

NO it does not look like either. It look like 2 tubes running down from the steering wheel to the floor with the large one(1.5") on the bottom and the smaller one(.5") on top and at the end of the small one 1 to 2 inches from the floor is the mechanism to turn the switch. I will take a picture on Wednesday Thanks for the help.
