The above distributor looks like a quality item. If someone buys one of these please share the important dimensions and photos would be very helpful.  I'm betting the trigger device is a Pertronix?

I guess including their WEBSITE would help - https://4secondsflat.com/Y-Block%20Distributors.html

They say assembled with PERTRONIX IGN III.

The way I read it, it says billet distributor. Why need a core?

Thanks for the link - My guess as to why they need your core is to have an exact specimen for the new distributor they will set-up for that customer. For example, should it be for a Lincoln Y-block, the new distributor would therefore have a 15 tooth gear. Kind of removes a lot of what ifs and guess work out of the new distributor build so hopefully no repeat of what Martyk98 went through.  As they stated: No one size fits all sold here. This seems like an end-all for replacing the Y-block dual advance distributor. It's even close to stock in appearance. Also, for those folks running a mechanical tach, some time ago Ted checked out a tach drive replacement with good results.

...hmmph ...

I wonder if  the reason might be their using the FYB DUAL ADVANCE shaft and gear for the SBF changeover (if all are actually SBF changeovers)? And also using whatever period core for some internals? Be quite a waste of cores.

Oh well, the OP posted he had a lot of trouble a few years ago. Maybe they have it worked out now.

"The way I read it, it says billet distributor. Why need a core?"

Well, it finally dawned on me what is happening.

It is not a BILLET DIST (which  is obvious by appearance - except to me obviously).

They are taking old cores and re-engineering/refinishing them as to retrofit previous L-O-M and FYB DUAL ADVANCE to modern ELECTRONIC IGN with some goodies added.

I suppose those with a L-O-M DIST has to submit a later FYB DUAL ADVANCE STYLE or a SBF DIST to be modified.

I always knew that my 3rd GRADE education (2 YRS) would become handy at some point.

I would also wish to thank DIONNE WARWICKS PSYCHOTIC HOTLINE as my LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP helped immensely with online tech help and counseling.

EDIT - SIMILAR THREAD CONCERNING DIST RETROFIT -
