It was designed that way but they never lasted long I guess, every old one I have removed the tube was long gone

The heated water hose goes into the heater core bottom inlet, the heater fills from the bottom, that prevents the air bubble problem, just the opposite of the way a radiator works.

Appreciate that but you don't want any air bubbles going to the core as it reduces heater efficiency and can lead to air lock.

If you notice, on the heater control valve and most elbows, FORD used an immersion tube to draw coolant from the bottom of the coolant crossover to reduce the possibility of air ingestion (any air bubbles staying at top of coolant).

This is a passenger car set up (clone) F code. It has the VR supercharger. The air ducting is custom to the car, and it uses a Blue Thunder intake, but it’s pretty much the same in layout as a 57 manifold. You can see the heater hose connection (hard line) just in front of the carb.

Good idea Charlie. Probably not something he thought about since I would think very few supercharged Y's get run in cold weather.

Google an Edelbrock 257 that should help.
