Anybody know what these are? in looking through my stock pile I found these, early heads no freeze plugs, stamped with a G after the cast EBU.

The date code looks like May 3 1956.  I'm sure replacement heads were cast.  Maybe it's simply a replacement.  The ports, valve size and chambers look right for 239.  Sometime toward the middle of '56 production, heads began to be cast without core plugs.

Maybe it just indicates a revision, since there are some differences from the original EBU castings.  What size are the spark plug threads?

What about the G stamped into the head?

Keep in mind that the 239 engine was used as the base V8 engine in the Ford pickups after 1954.  EBU-G heads are not to be confused with ECZ-G heads.  When someone says they have ‘G’ heads, it needs to be clarified which ‘G’ head.
