Can anyone give me detailed instructions on how to convert the front park lights to front turn signal lights on a 1956 Ford Fairlane? Thanks.

I thought they already were? They should take a dual filament bulb.

Is there a Turn Signal switch on the Steering Column? The Shop Manual does show wiring Diagram differences between Factory and Dealer installed Turn Signal Setup so I assume some came without Signals installed from the Factory.

I don't remember them coming without the turn signals but it's certainly possible. If wiring a add on unit you may need to change the front bulbs to two filament, two wire types and run wires from the add on switch. Interesting.

The Shop Manual shows two different  Wiring Instructions Diagrams. Must be pretty rare not to have any at all? Wonder what Year Turn Signals were Mandatory? There is a NOS Dealer installation Turn Signal Kit on Ebay. Shows all the Contents. Item # 273214818745

In Indiana factory turn signals were required in 1957.  I don't know if that was federal law, but would guess that it was.

The above post describes CFR (CODE of FEDERAL REGULATIONS-

Turn signals were mandated by government 1/1/1955 by an INTERSTATE COMPACT making their install mandatory.
This would explain early 1956 MODEL YEAR install as being optional on all or low trim levels and the availability of OEM kits to install-add on to early 1956 models.

My truck did not have a turn signal switch in the column when I got it.  When I investigated, the collar was not even threaded for the switch screws and they are not stripped.  I don't know the history so it is possible that it is a replacement that never had the switch reinstalled but I wonder if there was some loophole where they could be ordered without one.
