Sounds fuel related. A lean condition possibly. I would check everything from the tank pick-up up to and including the carb.

I still think it's something carb related. What kind of carb is it? Have you checked the fuel filter?

It's not a teapot it's a 2 barrel. It's a rebuilt. I put it in about 2yrs ago, ran great. It just started this surging thing about three weeks ago.

I'm thinking it could be a sticking needle valve or low float level in the carb. I've had something like this happen on another carbureted car I once owned and it was a sticky worn needle.
