Hi guys, I have a 55 Victoria w/a 272 in it. I've converted to electronic ignition, changed to 8 volts, etc. I had it out for a ride last week. When it warmed up it started to surge as I was driving. I put it in neutral and revved it up a little it stopped. I put it back in drive and took off. As soon as I took my foot off the gas and started to slow down it started surging again. Could it be a vacuum leak or what? Has anyone had this problem. Thank You.

I'm thinking it could be a sticking needle valve or low float level in the carb. I've had something like this happen on another carbureted car I once owned and it was a sticky worn needle.

It's not a teapot it's a 2 barrel. It's a rebuilt. I put it in about 2yrs ago, ran great. It just started this surging thing about three weeks ago.

I still think it's something carb related. What kind of carb is it? Have you checked the fuel filter?

Are you using the correct ohms rated coil to match ?
This does sound like a lean condition from your description..

I bought the coil at the same time I bought the distributor. It came as a package.

Sounds fuel related. A lean condition possibly. I would check everything from the tank pick-up up to and including the carb.
