I'm looking to put an overdrive tranmission behind the 312 in my 57 Tbird. The only two companys that I can find that make the adapters are Wilcap and Berndsten (not sure of that spelling). Has anyone had any experience with either of the two adapters or does anyone know of any other companys that do the same sort of thing. Thanks

Uncleaud: Back to your initial post. Are you looking to put an automatic overdrive or standard shift with overdrive in your Bird? Makes a lot of difference in the adaptor required. John

Did he happen to mention how far off he is from being in a position to actually ship some units? Hoosier Hurricane (2/16/2008) Uncleaud: Back to your initial post. Good point John. As is already known, there are enough nuances between the auto and standard transmission setups for the SBF that there is not a clean interchangability between the two with the same adapter. The Bendtsens adapter comes to mind as it works with the AOD but not very well with the standard trans conversion.

Ted, I asked, but got no answer. I don't think he's actually working on it.

Sorry bout the delay...your right I been researchin...My plan is to put a 200 4r or a 700 r4 behind the 312...I know I know they aren't Ford but I have them and I really like the gear ratios they provide...Right now I am lookin at going with the Wilcap because its 300 bucks cheaper and all I have to provide is the starter which I'm thinkin I can do for the difference in cost. If I'm not mistaken they are the same starter Chrysler has been usin for years and there are a ton of them out there. I'v got to get the two pieces dummied up if I can and see what has to be fabricated for the rear mount. If I have to start cuttin the x bracing then I will go another way. This Michigan winter has been slowing down my garage time in the evenings. Has anyone had any bad things happen with Wilcap?
