Thanks for the reply. I was unaware of your response until I stumbled onto the site today.I will research your recommendations as far as mounting th engine and trans. I'm still doing rust repair, it's going slowly but I'm in no hurry. Did you take any pictures of the frame and mount work on your 37? I would like to see some if they are available.

1Maverick I see you're in central Ca, so give Jerry Turner a call at Turner's Auto Wrecking, (559) 2370918. They are located in Fresno, 4248 S. Willow, Fresno Ca. Around Central and Hwy 99. I was in there last Friday and saw about 4 mostly complete Y-blocks still in trucks. Tell him the guy that bought the LYB truck valve covers sent you. I have done business with him before , good guy. He say's he has over 10,000 cars That I'm not sure of, but he does have a lot. They're all over the place, inside the yard, outside on the road, all over the place! Give him a call. 1Maverick; As you start off on this adventure, be aware that the aftermarket world is not very user friendly when it comes to putting Y Blocks in mid 30's Ford chassis. You will need to come up with your own ideas for motor and tranny mounts. If you are using an original 36 frame, my advice would be to fully box it. Not only for strength, but for mounting locations for your motor and tranny. I am using a T-5 in my 37 and for a trans mount I used a Speedway Motors tubular 6" drop tranny mount with a stock Mustang rubber mount. I welded 1/4" plates to the boxing plates and drilled and tapped 3/8" holes in those plates so the mounting flange on the cross member could be removable. On the motor mounts I used Speedway Motors FE tubular motor mount with the rubber, 390,352 engine mount which is just like the Y Block motor mount but only uses 1 stud instead of 2. I don't know what body modifications you are planning, but you also may need to recess the firewall so the motor will not be up against the radiator. Lots of things to consider. Good Luck! Rono

Im currently installing a 312 Y Block in a 32 Roadster .. My car has a 4" drop straight axle .. im using a 57 Tbird pan [deep rear sump] but have also tried a 59 truck pan.. the truck pan is a small bit thicker at front but would have worked also..

Does anyone have experience putting a y block in a 36 Ford? I will be running a stock front end with a 4 inch drop axle and a reverse eye spring.I hope to use the stock steering column and box etc. I have not purchased an engine yet. I have received what I consider to be good advise about using a rear sump engine out of an early truck. I intend to put a t5 tranny behind what ever I end up with. Any and all help, suggestions ,pitfalls to avoid, etc would be very much appreciated.I may be interested in a compete running engine or possibly a good core if available in the central California area.
