Nice truck. The rear end could be a Dana 44. It will be stamped on the axel tube close to the center facing forward. Pete

I have a 64 that I am doing. I personally would not go MII. Look at industrial chassis inc. They have an awesome front that is based on the Dodge Dakota. Rack and Pinion and still maintains your ability to use it as a truck. The front of an 03 and up Crown Vic works and is a fairly straight forward install but the track width is very wide and you would have to use a really off set wheel. A Jag front is also pretty easy to install. I think it is the correct width as well.

You might check out slick60s site for some great help on the truck. Steve from industrial chassis in arizona is a good way to go if you do not want to try the crown vic ifs swap

The guys at FTE have been using late model, as in this century, Ford Crown Vic front clips, at least on the '57-'60's. Apparently it's the correct width. Not sure if that had been changed by the time yours was built.
Have fun and keep us up to date with truck pron pics

If it's not a 9, possibly a Dana 60. Does this look familiar http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fb/full.aspx?Page=121 ? Hope this helps, Don

Does anyone know what type of rear diff that truck has. It's not a 9in but it is a limited slip and he said he rebuilt it. I turned it and it is a limited slip I was just wondering if they are strong or not.

Heidts makes an IFS set-up for 53-64 Ford Trucks. It is their Superide II which is different than the Mustang II IFS. I put a Superide II in my 37 coupe and I like the front mounted R&P steering. Check it out at www.heidts.com Rono

Just a couple thoughts. My street rod friends that have them say the MII based front ends tend to be real short on travel, especially with coil overs. Plenty strong with aftermarket parts, though. The suppliers may not mention that unless you ask. I have not used one, so that's second hand.
Art Morrison makes a variety on rear suspension types for the rear, and I'm very pleased the the triangulated 4 bar under my 'bird. His shop is just down the road from me, and they are very good people to work with.

I think http://fatmanfab.com/ has the front end parts you need.

The block is a 1959-60 casting. I believe those blocks have the deeper drilled mains. Some were 312s from Merc's..
