carl (1/8/2013) The truck oil pan i have is just shy of 6" from the flat to bottom of the pan measured on outside of pan CarlThat measurement would be the deepest part wouldn't it Carl? If so how deep is the shallow part at the front please? Trev. I measured the shallow end and it is 31/2",also the picture Ted posted shows the pan i have is a pickup oil pan Carl

My 292 came to me with a rear sump pan and after I removed it I found that it was originally a front sump pan. Someone before me had cut the oil pan mounting flange off, turned it around and weld/brazed/epoxied it back on. One corner had been massaged (as they say in the hot rod magazines) with a ball peen hammer to clear the oil pump, small sheet metal pieces were welded into the corners and the oil pick up tube looked like a pretzel. It isn't pretty but it didn't appear to leak. I think with care and planning someone could do a better job. Its no longer straight as it was extremely difficult to remove.

Paul: I did that very thing about 42 years ago when I put a 292 in my '33 Ford pickup. I have a flathead in the truck now, but that 292 with 312 pistons and that pan is still sitting in my barn.
