I'm just wondering about the necessity of the counterweight behind the fuel pump eccentric. The Eickman book seems to suggest that the counterweight was used in early Y-Blocks, but dropped in later years(?). Since this is a  C2AE block with a Rollmaster timing chain, should I use it or not? I can't see how it could hurt anything by having it in there.BigGrin

Rono.  If you have the fuel pump counterbalance plate, then by all means use it in conjunction with the fuel pump concentric.  I’ve checked the balance of the camshafts with and without that particular plate, and it does remove a significant amount of imbalance in the cam timing area simply by using it.  It was discontinued during 1956 as one of many cost cutting measures on the Y’s  but was brought back for a short period of time on the High Performance 289’s.
