We purchased Uniroyals last year for my wifes Accord. Was surprised when I discouvered they were made in China. Said to the tire shop owner "you didn't tell me they were made there" He said he wasn't aware of it, but I could pass on them or bring them back if I didn't like them. They seem fine. (not a guaranty of other ones made there obviously) Also, bought this year, a set of Hankook Optima 727s for my daughter's Civic. I believe they are made in Japan or S. Korea. Would prefer a N. American tire, but Consumers report rated them 2nd in a field of 16 All Weather tires tested. Only a Michelin was better overall, and the Optima 727 tested better for a Northern climate then all the others..

I've decided to go with the Yokohama AS430. They're pricey but you tend to get what you pay for. And there's a special going on, buy 2, get 2 free so the price becomes pretty good. I've looked at reviews and people seem to like them a lot.

For what it's worth, I recently purchased a set of coopers for my wife escape and our local cooper tire dealer told me that most of the coopers were made in the US but there are a few that are made "out of country" he didn't say where and I didn't ask. Mine are from the good old USA. The dealer seems to know his business but one never knows.

I checked my Fuldas this morning. They are made in USA! I also got a call back from NTB. They proactively checked the tires they had in stock in the size I need and Yokohama is US made.

For you guys running Coopers, would you mind actually looking at them to see where they are made. I've been looking at various reviews and it seems that many of them come from China now. They're the only tires I can get locally that might have a good chance of being American made. But they are not at the stores so I can't ask them to look.
