kinda getting far ahead here but

thinking of fabricating pair of log manifolds

what angle is the intake surface at?

Who cares about angles, if you're really going to fab logs BigGrin.

Separate logs at least don't mind about angles...

most American V-8's are 90 degrees

and square logs are a little easier

to mount carbs on top of

350 CFM 2 bbl on each log

should be good for mild performance engine

First a mild performance engine can hardly use 6 carbs. Secondly, the intake is like a single plain race intake and are very hard to get to run properly on a street engine. Nearly all the old log intakes anyone ever sees are for sale..for good reason.

figured out better way to do this

4 individual manifolds

one for each pair of intake ports

or 2 manifolds going across

each one going between

the pairs of ports

because if you come off intake ports face of head

square you keep getting closer to the

middle of engine the longer the runners are

pretty soon you run out of room

The manifold faces on the heads are 120 degrees. 90 for the block and each head is angled 15 degrees.

I've seen flanges for sale on ebay.

good stuff mr mummert

it can be built as a 'combo'

run four manifolds for engine than can run 4 2 bbl's

or bolt on 'bridges' with one 2 bbl each in center

for engines can only use that much carb

note: the 'bridge' is like this attachment

get rid of middle carb, change 4 bbl to 2 bbl

and turn it upside down

Carson,

Aside from the "WOW" factor, you'll probably be a lot happier with one of John's intakes and a decent single four barrell carb.

I agree with Frank's remarks. Mummert's intake tested on a comp engine, bested a Tunnel Ram intake.

more on building 4 intake manifolds

to fit on each pair of intake ports

1 manifold runners ought to be

'mail chute' shaped

straight down and curve to pair intake ports

2 carbs should all be forward facing

sideways is out because they weren't built

to slosh sideways

3 milled face around intake ports on our heads ( BT1E )

include outboard boltholes for stock manifold but not inboard ones

inboard bolt holes are way over by heat riser passage

that makes things a little tricky

4 not dealing with cooling crossover now

which shares one bolt hole w/intake
