I'm watching. If you're stoked on it, and are going to do it do it! I'd love to watch this progress.

here's topview of engine with CHUTES only

i'm going to build a 'mule' prototype that

will have a box that fits carb base

on top of chute and then gaps need to be covered up

the chutes look like they need to be about 3" square

and the carb pads will be wider than that

forever's

have rethought this thing and here's the new version.

it's a 'rain gutter' design.

rectangular boxes with a bolt on lid.

this is offered in 'Don Prudhome' tradition.

helping other racers.

if anybody's interested in building these,

i'll continue, if not that's fine.

later

hollow head

i can't build these any time in the near future.

bear with me here.

if this was made for a straight 6.

you make 1/4" thick plates just around

the ports and bolt holes.

then you make a box from sheet metal or aluminum.

use a 2 barrel ready made spacer to put on top.

top needs to be screw on so the intake bolts

can be tightened first, then put the top on.

that's for a 6, for the y block you just use

two of them, one for each head.

put a 2bbl sideways on each manifold and that's it.

water crossover you make separate.

thanks

just my 2cents worth on 6 carbs on a y/block, pf is correct to a point. 6 2s are reliable enough to run regularly on the street if properly or closely tuned. i say this because i have been running this setup on my 32 3window 5speed coupe for over 3 years and at times it will sit in the garage for 2 to 3 months at a time without me even firing it up.(not my daily driver for sureBigGrin) and although you guys are right,it is not even close to the performance characteristics of a good mummert manifold and carb , or even the 3 deuce setup that i have sitting on a shelf, the wow factor of this setup perched on an old yblock with merc. valve covers, mallory dist.hiding a petronix unit is really worth it all. as is said ,just my 2cents worth.

Some people are bears for punishment.. I have some experience so to speak with a 6 carb intake. A buddy ran a 56 ford in "D" gas in Washington state in the early-mid 60s. The intake was a custom built cross ram, not just a log setup. It had 3" dia. tube upper runners & boxed down tubes with properly divided porting. Down tubes were about 8" long Carbs were 94s. At mid track it had great torque, in one case that I recall, almost staying with a pro built car with a fuel injected 327. But...the achilles heal of the setup was that despite much tuning, it was not tractable at the low end. Bogging out of the hole was a big problem. Only using excessive RPM on the line would overcome it, which led to excessive wheel spin, and many losses. Unfortunately he was never able to tune the problems away..
