Here’s the updated list for the 1957 ECG-D dual quad intake manifolds. Looks like most months are accounted for except November 1956. It will be interesting to see if there are manifolds dated before or after what’s listed. As it stands right now, production took place from Oct 15, 56 thru Jun 11, 1957. With such a small sampling, the odds are good that the actual production went both earlier and later than this. 10-15-56 (JH) 12-5 (JH & RH), 12-6 (RF & Marc), 12-7 (HAMB), 12-13 (JH), 12-14 (EP & Ted), 12-17 (TD), 12-18 (CM), 12-18 (Cliff), 12-21 (Ted), 12-28 (JH) 1-3 (JH from Ebay & CM & ChMcC), 1-9 (DK & NoShortcuts), 1-11 (RG), 1-15 (Facebook), 1-16 (CM), 1-18 (JH & WH), 1-22 (Genuinerod & Ted), 1-23 (Robs36Ford), 2-4 (JH), 2-7 (JH from Ebay & SL444), 2-18 (JH & SL444), 2-28 (EP & JH), 3-4 (EBay), 3-6 (JH), 3-7 (JH), 3-8 (JH), 3-13 (EP & JH), 3-23 (WH), 3-26 (Mike), 3-29 (EP & JH & Ted) 4-1 (SL444), 4-2 (EBay Nov 2019), 4-3 (JH), 4-9 (EBay Nov 2019), 4-11 (rpm) 5-8 (JH from Ebay), 5-10 (EBay & CM), 5-14-57 (Fall Carlise), 5-28-57 (fakirone) 6-3 (JH), 6-5-57 (Ted), 6-6-57 (Flatrod & JH), 6-10 (JH), 6-11 (Robs36 & Robs36) Illegible date (easyissy) No date (CL & EBay & SL44 & WH & Easyissy & RW/Ted) Totals by month Oct 56 - 1 Nov 56 - 0 Dec 56 – 13 Jan 57 – 13 Feb 57 – 7 Mar 57 – 11 Apr 57 – 5 May 57 – 5 Jun 57 – 7 Missing and Illegible – 6 New information is always welcome. The best information I have is that there were ~5500 ECG-D 2X4 dual intakes made for the 1957 model year. Some of those were for parts or counter sales so all did not go on factory equipped vehicles. Unless the date on an EBay offering is new to the list, it’s typically not included as some of those manifolds are simply being swapped about which makes duplication on the list far too easy. On the Facebook group, a guy says he has an ECG with 1-15. On eBay is one from Cliff Murray (CM?) Looks like 1-3 but could be a duplicate. https://www.ebay.com/itm/264399248458?fbclid=IwAR1jrIJbJ6vX1Ey3cx1asg83no299_QDyuIPUmWmJeYHGfElem2Hd2x4oKc

Charlie’s ‘1-3’ manifold has been added to the list. There’s fifty five manifolds now listed. That’s 1% of the ECG-D manifold production. There were approximately 5500 of those manifolds cast and assuming about 255 casting days in a 12 month production year, that would mean about 21-22 manifolds cast each day not including defects. From the looks of the dates that have been listed, there was only a nine month production window so there would have been a larger number of manifolds produced daily than what I calculated above. There are still no November 1956 manifolds listed yet. 10-15-56 (JH) 12-5 (JH & RH), 12-6 (RF & Marc), 12-13 (JH), 12-14 (EP & Ted), 12-17 (TD), 12-18 (CM), 12-18 (Cliff), 12-21 (Ted), 12-28 (JH) 1-3 (JH from Ebay & CM & ChMcC), 1-9 (DK & NoShortcuts), 1-11 (RG), 1-16 (CM), 1-18 (JH), 1-22 (Genuinerod & Ted) 2-4 (JH), 2-7 (JH from Ebay & SL444), 2-18 (JH & SL444), 2-28 (EP & JH), 3-6 (JH), 3-7 (JH), 3-8 (JH), 3-13 (EP & JH), 3-26 (Mike), 3-29 (EP & JH & Ted) 4-3 (JH), 4-11 (SL444) 5-8 (JH from Ebay), 5-10 (EBay & CM), 5-28-57 (fakirone) 6-3 (JH), 6-5-57 (Ted), 6-6-57 (Flatrod & JH), 6-10 (JH), 6-11 (Robs36 & Robs36) Illegible date (easyissy) No date (CL & EBay & SL44)

Here’s an updated list with Cliff Murray’s manifolds added to the list. It's now 53 manifolds not counting the easyissy manifold that the date was unclear on. That one is not on the list yet. Ebay manifolds do come up but if the dates on those manifolds are already on the following list, they are not listed. If the date is new to the list, they will get listed. Still missing manifolds cast up during November 1956. 10-15-56 (JH) 12-5 (JH & RH), 12-6 (RF & Marc), 12-13 (JH), 12-14 (EP & Ted), 12-17 (TD), 12-18 (CM), 12-18 (CM), 12-21 (Ted), 12-28 (JH) 1-3 (JH from Ebay, CM), 1-9 (DK & NoShortcuts), 1-11 (RG), 1-16 (CM), 1-18 (JH), 1-22 (Genuinerod & Ted) 2-4 (JH), 2-7 (JH from Ebay & SL444), 2-18 (JH & SL444), 2-28 (EP & JH), 3-6 (JH), 3-7 (JH), 3-8 (JH), 3-13 (EP & JH), 3-26 (Mike), 3-29 (EP & JH & Ted) 4-3 (JH), 4-11 (SL444) 5-8 (JH from Ebay), 5-10 (EBay, CM), 5-28-57 (fakirone) 6-3 (JH), 6-5-57 (Ted), 6-6-57 (Flatrod & JH), 6-10 (JH), 6-11 (Robs36 &Robs36) No date (CL & EBay & SL44)

........The 56 did not need an indented valley cover either as I understand it like the stock 57. Did any aftermarket dual quads need one? I love reading and learning about these early factory and aftermarket performance parts. Both styles of the ’56 Ford 2X4 EDB-C intakes I’ve had in my hands required a ’depressed’ valley cover to allow the intake to bolt in place without any valley cover clearance issues. On the flip side of this, the 1956 Mercury 2X4 intake does not require a special cover but that intake looks to have come out of the same basic molds as the Edelbrock FM255 intake. The Ford intakes were cast by Schmeller Aluminum and are a completely different design than the Edelbrock intakes. Even the carb spacing is different between the Ford and Mercury 2X4 intakes. To date, I haven't come across any aftermarket or non-Ford dual quad Y intakes that required an indented valley cover to facilitate their installations on the engine.
