Stu, The first ones had the letters upside down! Grab the impeller and the flange and make sure they're tight. Had some issues on that early also.

Neat pics. My JM pistons are done but need picking up. They may look very similar with 4cc domes.

thanks for replies Frank is the fan mounting to shaft suspect or is the impeller to shaft suspect. the latter looks welded on? i've not noticed any problems but i have not trieed to move any thing. thanks for the heads up. Mike i've been following your posts with interest especially your posts re compression ratio and cam choice as i've been down the same road also using Wallace caculators. my short block is a team Mummert with the 270 cam and i took a late decision to go with ally heads nos 035 and 036 i ended up with static cr near 13.1 hence piston dome surgery, now 5 thou below original flat top.pistons now sit 10 thou in the hole. ally combustion chambers are coming out at 56-57 ccs this gives static cr 11.1 and dynamic 9.4 to 1 much as i hate to, i think i will have get the chambers out to 58cc just out of interest i got my pickup from Klamath Falls, not too far away ? stuey England

Klamath Falls is close, only over on the other side of the Cascade mountains from here, and referred to as S. Oregon like where I am. Your compression numbers make me wonder if gas on the other side of the pond is a higher grade?

Mike just saw it (a 56 big back window) on the net and went for it. when it arrived i lifted the bonnet sorry hood and saw my first Y-block with across the front exhaust and thought what ever is it. but they sure grow on you. this forum and the people that use it have been a God send its an absolute mine of info. the old fellow was retiring and was selling every thing for a life in a Winnebega? i think he had a Morris Minor with a 292 as well ?? i don't think our gas is any better standard 95 RON premium 98 RON but i think there are 2 RON numbers. one is "Road" can't recall the other. i'm aiming for 9.1 dynamic , 1 above what Ted recomends for iron heads which should be about on for 58cc chamber stuey

As long as we are doing pics here are some shots of the engine that lost oil pressure 2 years ago. It is finally ready to go back in. Chuck

Stu, Both are pressed. Watch the impeller. I can send you another if you suspect a problem ( Free, obviously). I reduced the ID of the impeller after the first run, we found they grew from heat and would move. Some were fine, a few were not. Frank

Frank, Any chance you will do another run of covers and water pumps someday? Sure would love to have some. Chuck

Chuck, your engine is impressive. What happened on the oil pressure issue? Was the engine tired, or much worse, was it new?
