Hello! Hello! is this Austrailia calling? operator, I think we have a bad connection. The only Canadian was Micky Bogden with his excellent running bird, but I did see Rob Bolzen's car on the back of some girls T shirt from the 2009 shootout, I didn't see any T shirts of your car Lon, so I guess Rob wins this year. I did get to Video all the runs of the first round on Sunday and gave them to Ted, Hopefully they can get posted soon. I did have my wireless connected and my laptop sitting on the truck seat and informed Charlie and Bob that if there was anything they wanted to update during the day they were welcome but as usual everybody is so busy its hard. Great time and some great running Y's!

Had a weak WiFi signal at the motel so no YBF posting could be done from there on my end. Thanks to all that attended the Ford Expo for a great Y-Block Shootout. I put 21 runs on the roadster and had zero issues with the engine. This was the EMC engine upgraded with higher compression, more camshaft, and a dry sump oiling system. Of the 21 runs made at this race, nine were between 8.962 and 8.993 seconds while another nine were between 9.001 and 9.068. The remainder of the runs were the result of aborted passes due to shenanigans the car was doing when trying to leave on a hard launch. I finally just settled into just making ‘easy’ launch passes as many of the runs were being made in competition either in Bracket I or the Y class on both Saturday and Sunday. As was mentioned, Sunday ended up being a rainout in the afternoon and the roadster was still in contention in both classes when the races were stopped due to the rain. Here are a couple of pics of the roadster taken by Tony Paz. I’ll work on a collage of pictures of the various Y racers and post them later in the week. Tony, Charlie, Ronnie, and several others also gave me pics which I’ll turn over to Jim and he will put them into a gallery.

charliemccraney (9/5/2011) I just got back. Rain all the way from north Kentucky.
My best was 15.95 @86 mph, in the exact same tune and setup I use every day. I don't have any traction to launch and was shifting at 4500rpm to be easy on it and it was my rookie weekend. There is more to be found in it.
I still have my numbers on the windows. I'm going to a car show next weekend so I'm going to leave them on for that. That'll be a little bit different.Good on you charlie, leave the numbers on! you earnt them!

Let me try this again, I got locked out. We got home at about 3:30 pm today. Sunday we were rained out about 2 pm. We still had y blocks running in the NMRA brackets. Ted in bracket 1, Randy in bracket 2 , I was in bracket 3 , Hoosier was in bracket 4 . We all shared in the purses for the remaining drivers. We started round 2 of y blocks when it started raining. We're all proud of Charlie, he made a good showing with his truck. I think he got into the high 15's. He took out a heavy hitter on sunday.

Wally went a 12.18 (I think) on Sunday. He PULLED the Hoosier Hurricane in top gear through the lights for the win. Wally went 111+ mph in lousy air, John went 109. I suspect they're will be some thrashing in Muncie Indiana this winter!!! Ted and Greg are so consistent and fast it's Scary! Watched Ted drive over a big inch Windsor in an Altered body with the EMC engine. The rest of the ford- non Y block folks had to be impressed with that! The neat part of that, Ted said the chassis is not reacting well at this point, so he's leaving easy, at a lower than optimum RPM and leaving a couple tenths on the table. That means the car could run 8.70's just sorting the chassis! Gasoline and carb, no blower, no turbo,no nitrous. Just a seriously healthy Y block! Lot's more went on but I'll let some one else do it. It was a blast as usual. I think there was 26 cars entered in the shootout.

Glen, I've already talked to John about the heads and I think I'm on the short list for next year. Also Ted and I have talked about rods and pistons for my motor. If I can get an equal HP per CI that Keith got that should give me around 450. I think my existing 292 is 320 tops so it will be interesting to see what it will do next year. Class rules wont let me duct tape the seems though.

Tim you may as well call Mummert and get your name on the list, those heads seem to be the key to big numbers, along with one of Teds billet cranks and a set of those slugs that he has come up with. I'm anxious to see the dyno sheet on the roadster engine.
