Hi guys, just did 1500 mile round trip interstate to the 2011 hot rod nationals in geelong in victoria, my new little coupe took me 2 yrs to build from pile of squashed panels and the 325 ci 4/71 blown yblock performed faultlessly in pouring rain both ways, i couldnt be happier with it. I met up with MOZ as i may have mentioned previously and saw quite a few y block cars there. best regards bill.BigGrin

it was great to meet bill in person at last & great fun squeezing my legs in & out of the a model i enjoyed walking around & chatting & checkng out the rods with y-blocks it was more exciting than looking at rods with scrub engines of which there were plenty to which bill & i think these poor souls need to be educated in the power of ford engines.

seppo i hope you have the vegemite ready as wll as the beer

LON & MOZ thanks for kind words, i grew up thinking everyone could see y blocks were the real engines in our world but its taken me all these years to see most people were blinded by cheap mass produced junk engines rather then "keep the fayth"!.

I.m not sure about legends but there are certainly people with the passion for our mid 50,s cars and these engines, the argentinians certainly produced impressive variations to the y blocks and others developed them for old ski boats and marine use, then theres the guys who push the development envelope further each day weather its in a back shed or workshop, everyone knows who they are and hopefully us old farts can pass some of it on. I have watched the y block emerge from behind the curtains to front row seats , the after market products and racing results have rekindled the flame for the edge dwellers. It was evident at the hot rod nats where there were new y block engined cars among some of the old timers and Y block talk filled the air. regards bill.Smile

in a few days i turn 47 & ive just realised ive had a love affair with y-blocks & customlines for almost 40 years im just lucky the 2 came out of the factory together ive wanted a customline since i was a young boy & got my first one a 55 at 18 sold that one a few months later (dumbest thing i ever did) & it took me 29 years to get another one but it didnt have a y-block so five years later i got the mainline & finally another y-block & i wouldnt trade them for the world so the love affair continues.

it was good to meet you bill also ran into dave [yblock32] missed moz, have to get together one of these day,s moz. got my first 56 cussy in the very early sixties and haven,t looked back since . i reckon if your on a good thing stick to it.and as we all know there,s nothing to get the juices flowing and sweeter sounding than hearing a yblock start up and just have that great y block rumble out the exhaust.

it was good to see all the y blocks at the nat,s and also there were a lot of sidey,s to and in new rods.

maybe there realising that the old ford motors are the best there is..
