And what would be even better is to keep your mouth shut about the '57, race it, blow the doors off some other Fords, listen to the chevy guys talk about how it's so much better, then reveal that it is Ford powered. Insert there feet into there mouths. Even if some of them see it, it'll be easy to convince them it's a Chevy, the distributor is in the back. Combine that with the fact that the exhaust and intake ports are close enough to convince them that it was some limited production engine, and it should work. Tell them that it was used just before the W motor came out.

Years ago I wanted to get a '57 plastic scrub and put a blown 312 in it, and put the "jewel infection" emblems on it also. Sigh, they were out of my price range then, still are.

Do it X2. That will make up for the SBC I saw in a Mustang last summer.

HeyJunkyard, DO IT!!! You will be a hero around here and at many a cruise night! Ford guys have taken the abuse for years of people dropping scub motors in Fords. If you want to be different and have your truck get loads of attention, a Ford in a shuv is the best way to go!!!

I am going to do some measuring and see what will fit,it does have a narrow engine compartment and a buick nailhead might be the better choice if I want to go with a V8 but I have been wanting to put a Ford motor in a Chevy and if I cant get the issues corrected with the 235 it will happen. The 272 I have is supposed to run so if it will fit I will pick up another FMX to put behind it and make some mounts,I do want a 50s motor since its going to look like a shop truck and want a vintage V8 to look like it was installed many years ago.

I divide my time between old GMC trucks and 56 Fords. A Chevy or GMC that was built for an inliner is a challenge to install an Olds Rocket. The steering box will get in the way of almost any V8. It has been done quite often, but usually with a Chev SB. A Y-block would be an interesting conversion, but it would involve quite a lot of work. A GMC 270 or 302 is a whole lot easier conversion. The block is 1 1/2" longer than a Chev, but that can be accommodated with moving the radiator and or the fan. Everything else is a bolt together. You can find out a lot about GMC here. http://www.oldgmctrucks.com/

I have a 37 chevy p/u that presently has a 235 six cylinder that has a couple issues and even with the drive line upgrades just is not going to do it for me so its time for a V8,I want to install a 59 Olds 371 like I had in a 53 88 since that motor made the 53 fly in stock form but that motor is on the wide side and might need some surgery to fit in the 37. The days of finding one of those Olds motors in a junk car that still runs is over and I since I have two Y blocks I am thinking about installing the 272 in the 37,I will try to fix the issues the 235 has for now but I am wanting to put a 50s V8 in the 37 for a vintage look and I have the 272 so there is no sense in buying another motor.
