Hey guys... Scroll to the bottom, it looks like edelbrock started re-popping the 553 and 573.

Could be because some ridiculous places require that older vehicles pass an emissions test.

Interesting that the heater bypass, choke heat riser, and vac port don't appear to come pre-machined...

It will be very interesting to see what the price point is, and if the finned valve covers will follow...of course they'll probably punch the valve covers (in their infinite wisdom:heheSmile

I've called and sent emails, even harassed them on their FB page to no avail. They "say" it will be ready late winter early spring 2012. I stopped holding my breath.

Charlie: I live in one of those "ridiculous places." In order to apply for Collector license plates, in British Columbia Canada, the car must pass a "basic" emmissions test. What is the standard? No one seems to know. My 57 car failed twice, even after I had a mechanic work on it. With help from people on this site, I was able to ascertain what the problems were, and to adjust the carb & valves properly, & it passed.

I was chating with Ryan C. over on the HAMB and he said the Edelbrock was going to make him a matched port intake to any set of heads he wanted. (Mummert heads) I guess social position has its advantages.

Talked to tech support at edelbrock about 573 manifold. They were very evasive about when or if it would be available.

The latest word I have from an Edelbrock insider is that the listing was put into the current catalogue to gauge what the market demand actually is for that particular intake.  The number of requests through the various dealers will help to determine if the manifold will be actually produced or not.  Edelbrock has done this with some of the other vintage manifolds of which some have gone into actual production.  With that in mind, just call requesting the manifold and get those numbers up!
