I did a quick measurement of bore & stroke, it measured out to a little over 273 cubic inches so I'm pretty sure it's a 272

I believe that in 1955 trucks up to f600 were available with the 256

engine.

What car, or truck, used a 256 in 1955? I thought it was a one year only engine for the 1954 Mercury.

hey dropped, a ECG-A could be either a 256 or a 272 in 55. check the stroke, 256=3.10, 272= 3.30, bore is thy same, 3.625 is std.

Yes, those would not be original to the motor...ECG block means 272 and those 5752-113 heads were replacement heads in the same vein as the ECZ-G heads that you hear so much about, performance wise. For all practical purposes, your 113 heads are the same as the G, with an added support posting above the combustion chamber. Hopefully they will check out ok and you can use them...would be nice to know what bore that 272 is sitting at. Your best bet (and money spent) would be to bore out the cylinders to std 292 size...272 pistons are getting very hard to find, and pricey...
