Heads may well be ECR-A with sodium filled exhaust valves, having fat 7/16 wide valve stems. Otherwise very similar to "C"s. I cc'd an ECR-A once at 73cc. Easy fix on the exhaust valves to have guides installed for regular valves.

It might have high ratio rockers. Do you know what heads are on that? ECZ-C? I'm going to guess it's got the Holley 94 carb and a Load-o-matic distributor.

so,I drive it every day, rain or shine,it is dropped. A '57 f100 that has a factory 223 & fordomatic combo. Not exactly a scorcher, but Im working on some stuff (t5 swap, offenhauser dual manifold, new 3rd member 3:25) when this ebay "292" caught my eye . I didnt expect to win, but I did. Now Im not sure just what it is that Ive won, 292, 272,or "256" ,, but the owner swears that it runs well + he's thrown in the transmission,("just a old 4 speed") and, he's willing to deliver the whole hot mess to me in portland...I just want a ford in a ford from a ford from roughly the same era that'll keep up on the fwy, and wont guzzle gas like some bloated scottish whisky dwarf hell bent on keeping all them OPEC twats in boy whores. 256? come on, really...

it looks like the original color was yellow, so don't be supprized if it's a 256.

dropped 57 (1/29/2011) I won the thing... is it worth $199.00? Im planning on swapping out the 223 in my '57 thanks for any and all helpdropped 57, if you reside in Oregon and end up needing engine related parts, I may be able to help out. Shipping is reasonable within state.

dropped 57 (1/29/2011) I won the thing... is it worth $199.00? Im planning on swapping out the 223 in my '57 thanks for any and all helpCould be worth it...I have never paid over $200 for any y block I have not personally looked over. This one does look complete and I would think that if it comes with the transmission...and you need it or the parts,,, could sweeten the pot. Obviously other people wanted it, or it never would have come up to the price you gave. Is your 57 a truck as well? swapping out from a 6 to an 8 is the way to go... hopefully these exhaust manifolds are up to snuff and you've got not cracks, holes, or missing pieces - using single exhaust? If duals, then forget about the manifolds. How about that oil filter arrangement? The one on this engine is made for the tight frame/steering gear issues on those bigger trucks that ran Y's. As you can tell, quite a bit would come in to play here over whether or not "is it worth...$199.00?". I have paid up to that price for good cores, but the engine had desirable heads, good parts, and OH - one even had a forged steel crank in it! So there you go. Let us know how this all turns out!

Gentelmen, if all of your bets have been placed, we will reveal the winner... ECG 6015A according to the owner. So, I was wrong on my 239 attempt. 272 it is...
