I was working on my dash today and as I was loosening the nut on the back of the gauge, it snapped leaving the stud just hanging. If anyone has one or if anyone has an alternative way to put in a gauge, let me know. I already have put in a brand new sending unit and it was working until today.
Thanks
Kevin

Carl - It is a 55 merc. It was 6 volt but I switched it over to 12v and used a Runtz reducer which worked very well until i snapped it.
Earl - Just emailed you

Mercury and Ford gauges themselves may be the same, but it is definitely not a direct bolt in as the Mercurys have all the Oil/fuel/volts/temp above the speedo whereas the fords have two above and one on each side of the speedo. I can use either 12v or 6v. If I use a 6v gauge, I will still have to use the reducer which doesn't bother me since it worked fine before.
Do you have one Carl?

If you do use a 12 volt gauge dont forget the other gauges still need the voltage drop.
