Kathy bringing me my reward for a hard days work. mctim64 (5/5/2010)
Well guys I finished the car last night and here it is! Just how many "rewards" did you have before you saw the cartoon animals?? In all seriousness (if I'm capable of that) the car looks awesome!

Yes, too many "rewards" can make for an interesting outcome. I found this one over on the H.A.M.B. It is s'pose to be at Eagle Field also although I understand it wont be running.

bla bla bla OK guy here it is, runs great but the water pump wont draw the water from the radiator (to low maybe) and my 3500 rpm torque converter sure feels like it wants to engage at a lot lower rpm. It's a Hughes any sugestions? I'm not an auto trans. guy and know very little about the tranny but I would think you should have to rev it to 3500 before it grabs. Anyway it still sounds good.

Tim, just watched your video, looks and sounds great.
I'll try to simplify a high stall torque converter for you. The 3500 RPM is when your torque converter "Locks Up" (theoretically). Stall means if you could hold the car back, at 3500 RPM the Engine would "stall" due to hydraulic lock up in the converter.
But when the engine is running there is a certain amount of hydraulic 'friction' between the vanes in the torque converter, making the trans seem to engage, especially with the wheels off the ground and no resistance on the output shaft. As the RPM's increase of course there will be more 'friction'.
Think of your family car, when you put it in drive you can feel it engage. But the torque converter has not reached "stall" yet. If the stall speed was too low, the car would stall. I 'think' family car have a stall ~ 1200-1500 RPM, I'm guessing though.
I have a C-4 in my '55 with a 2400 RPM stall and believe me, you hold it back with the brakes to bring up the Revs and it will launch hard...
I hope some of this kinda makes sense???
I'm sure somebody can explain it better than me, I am just trying to keep it simple.
BOB
