I picked up a 4'x4' sheet of 16 gauge CR - price was ok at $45.  The floor came out really well.  I included a picture for anyone interested in trying that method.  I just need to grind down the welds, paint it, and buy a gas pedal...  I only used about a 6" x 4' section of the sheet, but I'll probably use some of the remaining steel to make a hood scoop.  Smile

If you are looking for some buget floor pans, I bought some from FRPS in ohio. There pans were much cheaper than others, but not as good in fit/quality. I needed wall to wall coverage in the center of the car, so I sent some stuff back. I used the toe boards and rocker braces. Good guys to deal with, If you need an address or website ,I have the catalog in my shop, good luck, Mark

thanks, Mark

John.

I didn't use a bead roller or anything. The 18 gauge is stiff enough when you're using a lot of small pieces. In order to get all the contours and curves somewhere near right,I wound up with a couple of dozen pieces.I welded almost all the seams completely.Any seam I didn't weld completely,I sealed with caulk.I then primed and painted the whole thing. With insulation and carpet on it,no one will ever be able to tell it's a backyard repair.

Good Luck!!!!

Paul -  that was the answer I was looking for.

I started to patch the holes with some 1/8" sheet I had laying around but it was so rotted that I was burning through the sections I was welding too.  So, I got pissed, grabbed a hammer and started swinging.  Now the floor board is in a pile under the car in the driveway and the 1/8" sheet that's in there looks like hell.  I need to cut it all back out before I mock up the new panels. Sad

Did you need to use a bead roller to strengthen the panels after you cut them, or was the 18 gauge enough to hold?  Also, did you do a couple welds and then seal the joints or did you do a continuous bead around the whole panel?  I'm thinking after I get this fixed I'm going to power wash underneath the car while the trans is out, and spray on some rust treatment and then some undercoating of some type.

Thanks for the help.  - John

Concours,

Concours and Dennis Carpenter both have re-production floor panels. They may need some work after you get them but they're fairly close.

Since you're building a driver, not a show car,do what I did with mine.I went to a machine shop and bought a 4'x8'sheet of 18 gauge steel($34) and with my sawzall, cut and fitted pieces to fit the floorboards and welded them in.

Looking for a floor pan and toe board for drivers side for 1957 fairlane.  I went to repair a small hole and after I started cutting out the bad stuff half the floor was in gone.  They don't have to be beautiful and painted, just not rotted out.  (I can't justify paying $120 + for each for new when it isn't a show car) Any help or leads would be appreciated.  - John
