Shakey,
That's what I'm after but got blown out on Ebay yesterday for a 573 and 3 Holley 94's. Intake needed some repair, the carbs looked sketchy and the posted sale price was $660 at the end of the auction. I don't trust a lot of the stuff on Ebay; been burned before.

Charlie, Yes that looks a lot like the Moon Units, I will check them out when I get a chance. Imagine a system that has the cool looks of 3 Deuces and is as tunable as EFI. More expensive that I remember though (of course) Thanks for the link Charlie.

I may have over-stated the expected pricing but given Edelbrock's penchant for profit somewhere between 400-500 bucks doesn't seem out of line for them. I have been watching a couple of forums, principally H.A.M.B., discussing the release and prices. Dennis Carpenter apparently has advertised a new carb to be released in the spring for about $200 but that may have fallen through, which many surmised to be the new Edelbrock 94. The market for new carbs, discounting Speedway's Chinese knock-offs, appears to have settled in the high $300 to low $400 range after all costs are included. To be fair, Edelbrock hasn't released any prices yet so it is a waiting game. Given the vast amounts of the original carbs that were produced over many decades, I think there is still a reasonable chance of finding some. That said, with all the high pricing by new manufacturers, what you pay for usable originals will most likely rise also.

Bob's 55 (1/21/2010) I just wish that Moon had continued with their 97 look-alike fuel injection. (Anybody here remember them?).Something like this? http://www.retrotekspeed.com/products/nostalgia-efi/nostalgia-efi_.html

MarkMontereyBay (1/20/2010) including the Edelbrock 97 that is supposed to hit the market this spring at near 500 clams is a bit silly.
Mark HebardEdelbrock units are going to be near $500? where'd you hear that? i agree you could probably build up some 94's cheaper than new, but you will have to buy a few cores. Strombergs are hot item anywhere and those are not cheap.
This ain't no L-Kamino!

Mark, thanks for the URL. I was not aware that Edlebrock was making a 94 replacement either. Looks like three deuces are getting more popular all the time. I just wish that Moon had continued with their 97 look-alike fuel injection. (Anybody here remember them?).

Sorry, it is actually an Edelbrock 94 part number 1151 primary, 1152 secondary. Here is the link.

Mark, I agree. Seems everything is getting pretty outrageous. For example Ted is asking to "borrow" some 48 mains for some 97's he is going to test. They are now going for ~ $10.00 each (two for each carb) X three carbs. I'll let you do the math... (Sorry Ted, I was just using that as an example. I did go out and look, the only 48's I have are in my 97's. If I had some extras I would have let you use them. I'm as curious as anyone else what the results would be).
Haven't heard about the Edlebrock 97. So now we have the 'Real reproduction 97's', Speedway's Chinese 9 Super 7 and Edlebrock's 97. And the Barry Grant Demon 98 (guess that makes them one better?).

Well...I am choking ( no pun intended ) on the price of the carbs. The manifold pricing isn't that out of line in my book but I am not willing to put out some cash for Chinese stuff and the others, including the Edelbrock 97 that is supposed to hit the market this spring at near 500 clams is a bit silly. I can redo my own carbs well enough with the right information at hand. I cut my teeth as a Ford/Lincoln/Merc tech rebuilding the infamous Variable Venturi, Lincoln bakelite Thermoquads, and Holley/Weber carbs in the late 70's and early 80's. Finding 3 non-hammered up 97's to work with is a real problem. Those carbs were everywhere at one time. I have to educate myself a little or get lucky or more realistically both. I will check with Dicks Hot Rod place but some of the "boutique" builders are very expensive as I am treading that path paved with gold into the astronomically expensive flathead territory. There is a local guy here, Don Orosco, who specializes in flathead unobtainium and I keep an eye on his prices. They will curl your toenails.
