Earl: Was that the "Y Notta Y Block" series in Street Rodder, by Doc Frohmader, 1999?

Earl: Also you could look for the somewhat later series in Classic Trucks, titled Y-8 Fords by the same author, Doc Frohmader. Intro was in March 2001, next May, & consecutive thru to March 2002, for 12 issues total. It Is very similar to the Street Rodder series...

John, I think it may be that. All I can remember was its a series of articles lasting the whole year or close to it on building a Y engine. Dont remember the year. Thats the bad part. Maybe 1990. Old timers has kicked in and remebering is hard to do . Now what was I saying....? I'll try that and see what develops. Thanks . Earl

Hoosier Hurricane (8/27/2009) Earl:

This is what got my interest in this old engine restarted after that it was yblocksforever all the way. Has some questionable details in it, but overall, good. You can't knock it, at least they are doing something positive with the Y as opposed to the youknowwhatbellybutton engine.

got my magazines last week and spent the week end reading the article on the Y block. To say the least I was dissapointed about the article. I thought it would be more than it was from what I read and heard about it. To me it was just a routine engine build. Nothing special. I thought at least they would post info on how well the engine performed but they didn't even say if it started. Most of the information written about the engine most of us already know. So, nothing new. I guess in 99 that would have been a good series of articles if one was building a Y. But, it still had some info missing. Oh well maybe next time . Anybody want the complete year 1999 of street rodder magazine?
