pegleg (7/5/2009) .....although the name is English, as is Eaton (Ted). Frank. I believe I’m an original hybrid. Mom was blue eyed English and is actually descended from the Sanfords that came over on the Mayflower but Dad was Irish, German, Holland, and maybe English. The ‘maybe English’ part is the Eaton name and I’ve only been able to track that lineage back to the 1790 census beyond which point I only hit dead ends. My German ancestry is through the Glenndinning name which migrated to America from Canada in the 1800's.

Ted, Cool that you can trace it back that far. My mother tried that in the '60's, and found one of my Dad's ancestors was a pirate, hung by the British! They didn't even bother to send him to OZ. She got mad and stopped that endeavor. The old man thought it was hilarious until he got the bill from the "Geneology Expert." She couldn't brag about it to Her bridge club buddies and he was mad for a month! Moz, I suspected that most of you guys were decendants of that group. I can tell from Lon's "shifty eyes"

Eeeh... ! I'm glad that I'm just plain semi-old citizen from Finland made by all finnish parents . Ok, my father was born on area which used to be ours before WWII, but now belongs to Russia . Conclusion: Being a Y-blocker, doesn't make you better or worse person, just a half nuts !

Only reason I know about Botany Bay is I saw a movie on TV about it with Alan Ladd. As long as you are a Y-Blocker the rest dont matter.

I've been telling my buddy in Singleton, NSW (for years) that the reason Aussies swear so hearty - is the Vegemite. When little toddlers, their mum tricks'em into a taste on a bickie and the next words are @#$%^&*!! Tried it on my own kid - brought some home - and sure enough, we had to wash his mouth out with soap!!

Is Vegemite really meant for eating? I once opened one tube and thought it was some kind of a window sealer . Well, sure I tasted it and it almost came back up again... Hmmm, we had two aussies ( my wifes exchange parents from Brisbane over 20 years ago) visiting us last christmas and I wondered why they didn't like our "Turun Sinappi" mustard .
