Ted, we do intend to use a degree wheel and indicator when installing the cam. Thanks for the interest in our project! On a side note, I grew tired of trying to find a rebuild kit for the water pump so I ordered a re-maned one from Rockauto.com. It looks to be decent quality, the price was great and the shipping was SUPER fast. You guys may want to check them out for parts - so far so good in my experience...

I'll probably install it straight up...Dan. I hate to be a stickler for details but when you say “install straight up” I’m assuming you’re still degreeing in the cam. Simply counting the chain links is no guarantee that the camshaft is installed at the actual “straight up” position. This is typically determined using a degree wheel and dial indicator to determine exactly where the cam is phased and then adjust accordingly. If not degreeing it in, then the camshaft is simply being installed, not being installed straight up.

Tim, does the cam you gave us match the p/n on the box? If not, do you know the specs? Thanks- Dan, that is not the box for that cam, I'm sorry but I don't have exact specs on that cam. Since it was not one that I ordered all I have on it are the "vague" specs. Lift is supposed to be around .450" with 1.5:1 rockers (the Y has 1.43 or 1.54 ratio) and duration is listed as 278* I know you would like to have the lobe center to degree it but I don't have that spec. listed. This is a single profile cam so the intake and exhaust should be the same, check the forth lobe back (#1 intake) and look for around 106-108*. I assume you did not invest in a multiple key-way timing set, so if you want to make a change an offset key would have to do. You can make one with a little creative filing out of a scrub key.
