Hello Members    trying to save a C2 block.. Pistons are stuck in bore (rust) just started working on getting them out. Crank of course will not turn so no getting to all rod bolts  to pull crank.. Have bores soaking in penetrating  oil. Heat, bigger hammer any thoughts?

Was the engine (short or complete?) left out in the weather? Spark plugs or intake removed when you found it?

Maybe fill the cylinders with solvent. Put plugs back in. Allow the engine to sit for a week. Remove plugs and gently try to turn.

If it breaks, continue to turn slowly and gently (as the bearings will also be dry). Maybe blow out solvent and squirt oil around  the ring lands as possible.

Are you trying to save the lower end or go through it?

Stripped to block, crank, rods and piston.  Basically trying to save block. Crank looks good and has HD rods. Did have a iron georotor oil pump.

Is the engine on a stand with heads removed?

Maybe install the heads with old gaskets to be able to hold solvent for a week.

Sometimes, a sharp blow with a dead-weight hammer or block of wood on the piston will break the hold.

Otherwise the piston will have to be hammered out from underneath.

SHOCK AND AWE always  bothered me.

Hopefully Ted will see this and give better advice.

Break up the pistons from the top if you do not want to save them.

Thanks Paul  not the trying to save rods or pistons. Engine should have had the beefer rods. Got one out it it is  EDB, not worth trying to save Hoping Kroil oil and heat will work.
