KULTULZ (10/23/2026)
Was the IGNITOR wired thru the IGN SW or a free-standing relay circuit? Merely exchanged for the points, per Pertronix instructions. Might have performed well in a car without electrical issues. But, I think that while 6V is adequate, just not enough juice left over to cover problems (likely the impetus for 12V).

I was just answering your query re: the Pertronix install (no relay). Don't know why the stupid ‘quote’ feature won’t work for me. Everybody seems to get different results with it.

Well, I got to ciphering and finally realized it would not matter whether powered off the IGN SW or RELAY, as the OD momentarily cuts the IGN regardless. Sorry to bother you.

That’s what gave me the idea for a theft prevention device (hidden switch). If a thief can’t start the car with a master key, or even hot-wire it, he can’t drive it away (unless he notices that extra wire spliced into the OD harness 😁).
